A confining layout, with a built-in tub, tight shower and glass block accents, convinced these homeowners it was time to remodel their master bathroom. Removing walls, opening up the floor plan and installing a modern freestanding tub and a new shower were among designer Cindy Smetana’s first steps. The undulating ceramic tile that runs like rivulets down one full wall in the shower dictated the room’s color palette and became the artistic focal point.

Everything else in the bath is understated.”

Caesarstone in Dreamy Marfil was used for the shower pony wall, the shower threshold and the cabinet tops. “Everything is a monochrome palette of taupe, grays and cream, to keep the feeling spa-like and serene,” Smetana says. The window overlooks a natural preserve in the back “so there aren’t any worries about privacy.”Transitional Bathroom by Cindy Smetana InteriorsCindy Smetana Interiors The satin nickel light fixtures are sleek and modern. The mirrors have natural wood frames. A Lucite stool sits in front of the vanity and “adds a nice modern touch,” Smetana says.
